Spring/Summer’s Hottest Duo: The Skirt Suit

Spring/Summer’s Hottest Duo: The Skirt Suit

Skirt  and jacket seperates are the power suit of 2023 and this season is taking the skirt suit to new highs with looks that are trendy and sustainable at the same time.

It’s not your mom’s power suit—not even close! This year, there’s a new suit obsession in town with the stars of the show being primary colors, quilted separates, and micro minis. If you’re getting dizzy from the “mini to maxi and back again trends” that seem to be all over the place, you’re not alone. But when it comes to the suit, skirts are definitely on the short list of the hottest looks for spring.

Dressing for the office is so much more than it used to be. An expression of style has been redefined with the new hybrid workp;ace working overtime in 2023. For an easy to throw on for a last minute meeting look, suits come with an instant confidence boost. Though women’s suiting never really went out of style, after working from home in our sweatpants,  the skirt suit has come out the other side with a brand new take. As demand for comfort persists even from the most corporate attire, the quilted mini  and jacket are making the return to the office as fresh as the season.

Sets saturated in primary colors, raw edges, and easy silhouettes adding an elevated sense of newness to the suit skirt trend.

The fit and shape of the skirt suit is new for 2023. For dressier moments, a monochromatic plaid pleated mini and cropped jacket is an easy winner. If your office is a bit more casual,  pair an oversized blazer with a ultra-maxi skirt or wide leg to-the-floor trousers for that throwback Annie Hall look that never seems to go out of style.

Denim Maxi + Classic Blazer

If a head-to-toe suit doesn’t speak your language, a blazer over a denim maxi skirt is the perfect look for casual Fridays. To-the-floor maxi, raw edges, leather, and ultra-high slits—just a few of the most relevant trends in the skirt universe in 2023 that pair perfectly with a more constructed jacket for that “opposites attract” look.

Quilted Colorblock Mini + Oversized Geometric Bomber Jacket

Color outside the lines in L2R’s  Majorelle Quilted Skirt and Jacket in Geometric Print Blue, one of the season’s most coveted looks on the streets of New York this season.  Available in three different patterns, the skirts and jackets can be mixed and matched with each other or some of your favorite staples.

Mini Denim + Bomber Jacket

Bomber jackets are are without a doubt one of the statement pieces in 2023 and when paired with a fresh denim mini, it's a look the screams style.

Preppy Jacket + Fringy Mini + Combat Boots

With just the right balance of preppy meets fashion forward, there are amazingly adorable options out there. The Burberry Checked Tweed Upney Short Jacket & Catia Mini Skirt, each  sporting the classic Burberry print and a mini skirt with fringe details, pairs perfectly with chunky combat boots for a look that knocks it out of the park.

Denim-on-Denim

For super cute “all denim”style, pair the Macey Single-Breasted Denim Blazer & Carter Denim Skirt by Alice + Olivia pleated mini for a look  that’s both on-trend and nostalgic at the same time. The blazer can be worn alone or paired with a sheer bodysuit or white shirt, depending on your mood.

Opposites Attract: Pastel Waistcoat + Leather-on-Leather

The waistcoat fad that sparked a sartorial sensation over the fall and winter isn’t going anywhere in spring/summer 2023. Consider going pastel monochromatic with a matching blouse or button down shirt paired with an opposites attract leather-on-leather blazer and midi skirt look for elevated office style.

 Cropped Shirt + Wide-Leg Pants

If skirts aren’t your thing, the suiting look still goes to work this season with wide-leg, loose-fitting trousers and a  cropped shirt.

For a feminine look that goes straight from the office to evening, L2R’s lace separates are the epitome of “pretty.” Uniting the timelessness and versatility that the L2R  is known for,  pair each piece with a multitude of separates to make your wardrobe work overtime.
